The Choice Is Yours

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:7-9

           Our lives are based upon a series of choices. Choices that are significant and seemingly unimportant. We constantly make choices without even realizing it. As humans God has given us the freedom to make our own choices. What we do what that freedom is what we will one day answer for before God. God has given each and every person free will. Free will means that we have the ability to live with or without the consciousness of God. We have a substantial choice that at some point in our live we must make. That choice is if we give everything to Jesus and repent for our ways or we decide to ignore the love of God. There is a right and wrong choice. This choice makes the difference from an eternal paradise with the One True God or an eternal punishment in Hell. It is probably the realest choice one could ever make.

          As a Christian we have the harder end of life. Being unsaved is the easiest way to walk through life. The only mentality that an unsaved person is aware of is the "me" mentality. What ever makes me feel good, what ever pleases me, whatever gets me ahead. Contrarily, a Christian must be in the constant pursuit of having the mind and heart of God. To reach this privileged state required an abundance of choices. Uncompromising choices. Choices being made with God in mind. Choices that do nothing but glorify Him. Yes, as humans we naturally make choices that aren't the smartest or best, but after we make a mistake making the choice to return our hearts and our affections back to God.
        There are choices we must make in our everyday life. We must choose to worship. The real question is what we will worship. Worship is not a song or music. Worship is simply where our affections are at a given moment. You can worship a product, a TV show, a sin, and/or a person. You choose to do all those things. It is easy to choose to worship the things of the world. Worshipping God gets uncomfortable. It gets tiring and lonely at times. It is not easy to live a life of worship to God. It takes discipline, perseverance, and heart that many people do not have. It is not easy reading the Bible. It is not easy taking time to pray. It is not easy to have your heart and affections pointed at God at all times. Deuteronomy gets boring, praying gets stale, secular entertainment and people are too good. It is more fun to watch TV and listening to some booty shaking music than reading the Bible and listening to worship music at times. When it gets to the point that your relationship with God is getting boring or mundane its even more crucial that you CHOOSE to focus on God.

        There are mornings where I walk into church and the last thing I want to do is stand there and lift my hands and abandon my being to God in worship. But I choose too. God has done all He possibly could to come to me and fill in the space and when there is space between us it is because I chose to put someone or something in that space. I will never understand how there are people in the church who claim to love God and be "Spirit-filled" and CHOOSE to sit during worship and text. How disrespectful. How irreverent. The enemy hates the worship of Jesus Christ. God loves it. The Bible says our worship triggers something in God and He literally stands up and dances and shouts over us. How could someone CHOOSE not to partake in that glorious cause and effect.

       Another major choice we have is what we think. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8) These are the things God commands us to think on. It is not easy to think that way. It takes training and refining. You must be self-controlled and spirit-controlled to think positively. Today I was sitting in class and as I was praying and going to God saying I don't want to... and before I could even finish the sentence God spoke, " You don't have too. You choose too." Those words pierced my heart and brought my heart to repentance. Daily I chose to sin against God and give my affection to another place. We choose sin. Sin starts in the mind. The first thought of sin should be rebuked and casted out by choice. When the enemy speaks we should never sit back and feed the thought and flesh, but habitually make the choice to quote scripture and change our thinking.

        God lets us roam freely and make our own decisions. Our lives all come down to one choice. Choosing to accept Jesus and never taste death or reject Jesus and reap eternal punishment. If you chose Jesus your exposed to a whole new realm of choices. Your life becomes about choosing to seek and go deep. It becomes about who your going to worship with Your whole heart. I ploy you to choose to run the race full force and ride the wave of the Glory. All Blessing and Honor, Glory and Power, be to Him.

"If I were doing something that the Bible condemns, I have two choices. I can straighten up my act, or I can somehow distort and twist and change the meaning of the Bible."
